5 Ways To Make Good Coffee At Home

Coffee, A.K.A, the elixir of life: do you ever wonder what your life would be like without it? It’s a scary thought. As a drink that is consumed by such a vast amount of people, especially those working, it’s something that is vital to get right. Not only does it act as a great drink, but it provides a service.

Through long working days, early starts, school runs, college assignments, no task is too small for coffee. When you’re on the go, it can be an easy option to grab a takeaway cup. The expense of this, however, can often add up. It’s also not great for the environment either – unless you have a reusable cup, then go you! It still takes time and money however, and is actually something you could do just as well at home.

We’ve come up with a few pointers on you can make the best coffee right in your home.

1. Cafetière

Cafetières are a step up method from instant coffee and don’t actually cost a fortune. These magnificent devices take freshly ground coffee and siphon it for that beautifully strong and rich cup. The device itself probably won’t set you back more than $10, max, and will give you a whole new coffee experience.

As mentioned, they do work with a specific type of coffee: it’s the ground type you tend to find in opaque bags. Don’t get beans, or you’ll need a grinder too! Make sure once opened the coffee is kept in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. Once your coffee and hot water are making friends in the cafetière, make sure you let them brew for a good five minutes or so for ultimate flavor. Then simply pour into your cup, and let the caffeine do the talking.

2. Coffee machine

If you’re mad about coffee, or consider yourself a bit of a connoisseur, then a coffee machine is probably the right one for you. There’s a healthy selection of them out there, you’ve just got to find the one that suits you best. Despite what you might think, they’re not all complicated to use either.

Some brands will simply require you to fill up the water tank (which will then last you a few turns) pop in the capsule, press a button and hey presto. Some have a little wand as well for heating and frothing up your milk so you can enjoy a cappuccino or latte from home. There’s an even bigger variety of capsules out there than coffee machines, so get experimenting with your perfect cuppa Joe.

 3. Instant

Now, there is a bit of snobbery that comes with instant coffee, but there are some great instant coffees out. Choosing the right one is important, those with a ‘gold’ blend tend to be a bit more mellow, but still have a great taste. If coffee can sometimes make you a bit giddy, you can’t go wrong with instant. Do your research and a great coffee at home can be as quick and simple as that.

 4. Utensils

Additional utensils can be a great way to make an excellent coffee in your own home. A little hand milk frother is handy device and is easy to get. Put in the batteries, pop in your coffee, or milk separate if you prefer, and froth to your heart’s content.

A metal milk jug can also add to the experience of creating your own beverage. Here, you can heat the milk on its own then pour into your coffee anyway you’d like. This is also a good way to practice latte art. This way you can impress your guests with a beautiful home made coffee.

5. Add-ons

The finishing touch to your drink can be the make or break of the cup. If you fancy spicing up your home made coffee then how about adding some flavored syrups. There’s no need for extra sugar with these as they add a sweet taste and a unique flavor. These can be dangerously delicious.

Why not be inventive with your add ons to make your coffee stand out from the shop bought ones? Whipped cream, cinnamon and chocolate stirrers all make for great extras to put into your cup. Unleash your creativity and make your perfect home-brewed concoction you can’t get anywhere else!
